Funk or phonk?
People often mix them up. Here’s how sounds are sorted here.
Brazilian funk: montagem, automotivo, brega, mandelão, MC vocals. What TikTok calls “funk”.
Phonk311“Classic” phonk: cowbell, heavy bass, Memphis rap samples. Drift phonk, house phonk…
Tekk39Hardtekk and tekk: very fast, hard kicks, often slowed down for edits.
Other16Rap, rock, pop, electronic… edit sounds that aren’t phonk or funk.
What’s the difference between funk and phonk?
Brazilian funk (funk carioca) is a music genre from Brazil: montagem, automotivo, brega… with MC vocals. Phonk comes from Memphis rap: cowbell, heavy bass. People mix them up because many montagem used in edits sound a bit phonk, but they are Brazilian funk: here they’re filed under “Brazilian Funk”.
How do I use a sound in my edit?
Tap the sound’s TikTok button: the sound page opens in TikTok, then tap “Use this sound”. You can also play the full track on Spotify or Deezer.
What is “Discover today”?
Every day, an algorithm picks the least played and clicked sounds on EditLibrary, with new releases first (after 2 days on the site). The goal: give visibility to sounds that deserve it.
Where do the numbers come from?
The video count is the one TikTok shows for each sound, updated once a day. The release date is when the sound appeared on TikTok.
Not made for money. Made for editors.
EditLibrary is a free project with one simple goal: help editors find the sounds for their next edits, and give new sounds the spotlight.
- 100% free. No account, no subscription, no paid features. Everyone gets everything.
- We push new sounds. Hidden gems and small artists are promoted for free, right next to the big hits.
- Zero business. The goal isn’t to make money. If ads ever show up, it will only be to pay for hosting.
